April 2010, April 2011, April 2012, April 2013, and now, April 2014.
Five years ago I started keeping a video diary of the month of April, YouTubers call it VEDA – Video Every Day in April. While I found that uploading a video every single day for 30 days straight was incredibly time consuming and a creative drain, I still found myself inclined to do it again and again, year after year.
This year marks my five year anniversary doing VEDA and I am excited to finally have a friend coming along for the ride. My dear friend Darrell (who has been in several of my videos) is actually the composer of all the different little ditties I’ve used as my theme songs over the years (starting in 2011). This year, he is putting his musical abilities on show for his own attempt at VEDA. He will be recording and uploading a different cover every day for 30 days. And he is taking requests on his website or on Twitter @dbryanmusic, if you want to take part in the VEDA process!
Every year I try to convince some poor sucker that making a video everyday isn’t actually that hard, and that he/she should so totally do it with me, and every year my friends are all too savvy to get sucked into the challenge. Luckily this year Darrell convinced himself with no help from me, and I am really glad to have him on board this crazy train.
The next 30 days will be filled with lots of late nights, lots of time spent in front of my painfully slow (and slowly dying) computer, lots of awkwardly talking to yourself in public, and lots of pleas to my friends to “say that one more time, just let me turn on my camera!” If you’re not already subscribed to my YouTube channel, you should probably do that now so you don’t miss any of the action—also, check out Darrell’s page while you’re at it—and prepare yourself for 30 days of non-stop, fun-filled, action-packed, musically saturated internet video content!
GO APRIL!
