I’ve been fortunate in my life to have the opportunity to do a lot of extraordinary things. For each of these things, I am extremely grateful.
Since moving to Toronto in the spring of 2011, after my brief stint living abroad (one of those extraordinary opportunities), I joined a choir called Choir!Choir!Choir! (It’s a choir, if that wasn’t clear.) In the last almost-two years, choir has taken over my life (seriously, ask my friends-they’ll agree); in a good way of course! It had also added exponentially to that list of amazing things I’ve done!
Last week, we went into the renowned Orange Lounge Recording Studio here in Toronto and recorded our own version of Wham’s “Last Christmas.” It. Was. So. Cool. Not only did we feel like total rock stars, there was also free pop! FREE POP!
If you’ve never heard of Orange Lounge (don’t worry, neither had I), it has been described as the Abbey Road of Toronto. Is this true? I have no idea. But I do know that inside the studio there were photos of Katy Perry, Bryan Cranston, Ozzy Osbourne, the Tragically Hip, and Justin Bieber! THE BIEBS! Among many, many others. Plus there was a guy there named Spencer, he was great.
So, we’re in the studio, like total pros; we’ve got headphones on, there’s a guy (Spencer) behind a little glass window, people in “the booth” can hear us but we can’t hear them. It’s magical.
But WHY did we do this? Aside from just being crazy cool, we’re releasing our cover of “Last Christmas” on iTunes (worldwide) to raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders. You can BUY it now! It’s the best deal you’ll find all season. For only 99¢, you will experience hours of joy, not only from listening to this wonderfully produced track (for hours), but also from the knowledge that you helped out a very worthy organization.
I am going to gift it to a few people right now! If you’re thinking of donating to charity this year, consider buying it for yourself and a few friends. And ask your friends to do the same! Spread the joy, and “send it to someone special!”
Sneak peek!
*Unfortunately, I can’t send it to anyone outside of Canada (boo), so if you’re reading this from another country, I’m sorry I can’t gift it to you! But you can still buy it for yourself and your loved ones!
