It’s A Blank!

If you missed it, here is my episode of Match Game!

.

I’m also about the drop some freedom on you. If you’ve ever stopped yourself from doing something because you were afraid of what might happen afterwards, or what people will think, or just plain making a fool of yourself, know that—unless that thing you were stopping yourself from doing was illegal, immoral, or reprehensible in any other way—you will survive.

I went on Match Game thinking it would be incredibly fun, and boy howdy it was. It wasn’t until after I did the taping and realised that I had no control over how I looked/acted/sounded in the final cut that I started to get nervous. Being filmed is not unusual for me, what with the YouTube and all, but I am usually the one doing the editing. Piecing together the best bits of me, or the bits that I consider the best, anyway. I even have the luxury of doing a retake. As the new season of Match Game started in September and the inevitability of my episode airing grew ever nearer, I started to get a more and more nervous of how I would come across on TV. But as I hunkered down with my parents and their friends to watch my game show debut, I realised there was nothing I could do about it now and I should just enjoy the experience. (Which I did, from beneath a blanket fort that I had constructed to hide from everyone in case I went down in flames.)

And just to prove that life goes on, even after some less than flattering moments are broadcast to the whole country (but who even watches TV anymore, right?), here are some of the *ahem* more picturesque moments from the show. Warning, if you haven’t watched the episode yet these pictures will reveal the results of the game. So if you want to play along and be surprised with my outcome, watch the episode before scrolling down (link at the top!).

My parents' friends described me as both "photogenic" and with a face "like a cartoon character."

Here I can be seen laughing at my own story. I sure do think I'm funny.

So much tension. So much uncertainty.

But it wasn't all bad; here I am looking kind of cute as I stare in Darrin Rose's dreamy eyes...7 feet taller than me.

  1. Yay Kat! $1500 is pretty sweet.

Anytime I’ve been on TV I’ve been both horrified and delighted by how I come across. I remember the horror more than the delight, especially some of the low moments when I was on reality TV (Dinner Party Wars – High on the Hog, Season 2) but it was still a singular and ultimately interesting experience.

p.s. I totally guessed grapes and would have thought plaid pants, because pants is one of the best words ever.
