From London Town to Camden Town

Sorry for the delay in Travel Posts – here is the next instalment of “Leaving England.”

April 30, 2011.

Had a late start to this day but eventually I was out the door and straight to Camden Town. It was quite busy as it was Saturday afternoon and the weather was gorgeous. I could have stayed browsing the shop stalls for hours. Once you push through the truly crap souvenirs stuffs there is some really beautiful and unique stuff.

I bought two shirts and a necklace even though I had absolutely no room in my suitcase. After Camden I tried to make my way to Tower Bridge but couldn’t due to tube station closures. I ended up getting off at London Bridge and promptly getting lost (as I seem to recall doing before in that same spot)! I wandered a bit and ended up at Borough Market near closing time. All the food vendors were selling off items at end-of-day discounts and I think I managed to get the one thing that was regular price (a piece of carrot cake).

After more wandering and an unexpected road detour I found Tower Bridge and Tower of London (which is not actually that tower-y). Unfortunately, it was too late in the day to go in for the tour so I just took pictures outside.

At around 7 PM I ventured back to Kathleen and Colin’s flat. Kathleen was in but Colin was still out studying for his last law exam. When he got back, they both turned in early for the night and I stayed up late packing and organising for Paris the next day.
