I’ve got pretty good self esteem, which is nice. But every once and a while something can happen to shake you.
At least once a month I get people telling me I look like a certain TV star. A TV star, you say? How flattering. Hm, sure, maybe if it was someone from a show called “You’re Pretty” or “You Look Good In That Dress.” But no, it wasn’t a show by either of those, or any other semi-flattering, title. No, many, many people on a regular basis say to me, “Hey, you look like Ugly Betty.” Gee, thanks. Now, there is a large portion of these people who are children, and I forgive them for their tact because, well, they are children. But when grown up people tell me I remind them of someone commonly referred to as ugly? Well damn. Learn her real name, please!
For my own sanity, of course, I assume they mean I remind them of the actress who plays Ugly Betty, which is nice because she is quite pretty. Regardless, this blog post is my plea to Hollywood to please, please, please cast more shows with brunettes with glasses so that I might get stopped in the street and told I look like someone other than a girl with the prefix Ugly.

Other women with glasses to whom I wouldn’t mind being linked:
1. Tina Fey
…that’s it. Apparently there exist no other brunette celebrities with poor vision.

Well there is Nana Mouskouri – I was always very thankful that she chose to wear her glasses…other than that, (and Tina Fey) currently I can only (reluctantly) think of Sarah Palin ?? Help!
Hmm, well similar to not wanting to be compared to someone who is “ugly” I’d rather not have people tell me I look like a 76 year old!
Hey, not making any comparisons here – just trying to help out and add to the list of brunette celebrities who routinely wear and/ or are photographed wearing glasses. AND I’ve always hated hearing people quote Dorothy Parker on the subject……Besides, I’m a glasses wearing brunette too – so I’ve got a vested interest…..
