The reason I started making wire sculptures is partly because of the Alexander Calder exhibit I saw at the Art Gallery of Ontario but mostly because it was something my grandpa used to do. There are numerous wire portraits around my grandma’s house, a few animals, and most notably, a wire airplane. The airplane is a very popular piece with my whole family, and it is currently sitting in a prize position atop my mum’s bookshelf.
For my latest endeavour, I decided to honour this airplane by making one of my own! It’s not quite as awesome as Boggy Bob’s but it’s not too shabby, either!

Here is a picture of my grandpa’s plane courtesy of my mum. It’s not the best picture, however. Apparently, it’s hard to get a good angle, which I can totally understand as someone who tries to photograph transparent wire sculptures frequently. (You just don’t understand until you’ve tried.)

Wonderful! Your Boggy Bob would have been VERY proud of your efforts! It’s a marvelous!!!
Holy amazing! How long did this take?
It took me about 3 episodes of Gilmore Girls (on my computer) spanned over last night and this morning π
good work Kat! How are things? i will connect with you on Facebook

Very good job.
BTW, it looks familiar, I think we took that one back from Heathrow last summer.
Question…do the advertisements really pay? (nice wire work)
I’m not getting any money!
You did it! Sweet!
Hi Kat,
Elaine here. I just love your wire sculptures. You have talent and imagination. Do you do commissions?
I can make you something if you want! As long as it’s not a turtle or a kayak π Just let me know!
